Changpeng Zhao’s Early life
On February 5, 1977, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, Changpeng Zhao was born. His family moved to Vancouver, Canada, in 1989 after his father Shengkai moved there in 1984 to pursue a doctorate. The Zhao family was able to swiftly obtain visas and left China shortly after the Tiananmen Square massacre.

By daily trade volume, Binance quickly surpassed other major cryptocurrency exchanges. With more than $10 billion in spot trading volume and $50 billion in derivatives trading, it now conducts business worldwide. Zhao, a major shareholder in Binance Holdings, has seen his net worth soar since then, peaking at almost $100 billion in 2021 at the height of the crypto bull run.
